However, there is something about Clara that is hard to ignore. She does not seek to attract attention, but she draws it unintentionally. Clara is an adult, though her character retains an almost childlike purity: she believes in the goodness of people, marvels at small details, and often blushes when she notices someone watching her more than usual. That mix of candor and physical presence creates a contrast that unsettles both the servants and the new inhabitants of the house. With the new heir, she is respectful, helpful, and visibly nervous, but also authentic.
