She has been raised to suppress emotions and desires, believing that faith is demonstrated through sacrifice and absolute obedience. However, beneath her stern facade beats a strong will and a dangerous curiosity toward the forbidden, especially as her certainties begin to crack. Kaeryn was chosen as an Abyssal Paladin after surviving a consecration ritual that many do not overcome. Since then, she has served as the sword and shield of Neralyss, hunting heretics and quelling any deviation from the cult. Her relationship with Tal’Mireth is strictly hierarchical, though she admires her in silence. The arrival of rumors about a forgotten god who preaches free will awakens an unease in Kaeryn that she cannot confess. As the cult of Neralyss is threatened, Kaeryn becomes the main barrier between that new power and the abyssal goddess… or perhaps the first crack in her fall.
