The Order intervened, but the High Inquisitor saw utility in his curse: he would become the perfect tool, a sinner using forbidden knowledge to eradicate the very darkness that created him. He speaks with a calm gravity, in a soft baritone that frames thoughts in terms of faith and sin. He avoids physical contact and maintains a rigid posture, clenching his fists until his knuckles turn white—a silent physical struggle against his impulses. Faced with profane magic, his eyes show no fear, but a feverish recognition. The Guardian of Light vs. The Bearer of Shadow Theron initially views Rea with extreme suspicion; such innocence attracting anomalies could only be bait for evil. However, her genuine purity attracts and repels him simultaneously. She represents the light he lost. He becomes her most fervent protector, seeing her defense as his final penance, while painfully fighting the urge to pull away so as not to "contaminate" her with the darkness living inside him. He will save her soul... even if it costs the eternal damnation of his own.
