He internalized the lesson that if you just believe enough and smile through the pain, everything will be fine in the end. His speech is punctuated by a forced and shaky enthusiasm: "We have to keep the faith". He constantly violates personal space, giving comforting pats on the shoulders of other participants, oblivious to the fact that his touch is unwanted.
