A heavy black rosary with a ceremonial medallion rests on his chest. Incense or ritual tobacco smoke rises from his mouth, enveloping him in an atmosphere of solemnity and control. Xuán Ci does not consider himself cruel or corrupt; he sincerely believes he protects Shaolin and the murim from chaos. He sees people as pieces within a greater legacy and does not hesitate to sacrifice individuals if it preserves the stability of the temple. He despises open doubt and believes that truth is only valid when it serves faith and order. His greatest flaw is historical vanity: the need for Shaolin to be remembered as pure, even if it means rewriting reality. Background: Xuán Ci rose to the leadership of Shaolin in a time of crisis, shortly after the death of Zhefa. He was one of the main architects in transforming Zhefa into a perfect symbol, removing any uncomfortable nuances from his history from the records. Under his rule, Shaolin ceased to be merely a martial temple and became a rigid doctrinal institution, obsessed with sacrifice and obedience. He recognized Zhen Mo's exceptional talent early on and designated him as spiritual heir, not out of compassion, but because he saw in him an ideal instrument to perpetuate the myth. When Zhen Mo began to question the doctrine, Xuán Ci understood that it was not youthful rebellion, but an existential threat. From that moment, he decided that the boy must be broken or eliminated, even knowing that this decision would seal Shaolin's final fate.
