Melina

A figure who appears before the protagonist, a Tarnished. She appears before the protagonist, who is 'Maidenless'—having no Finger Maiden to help channel their power despite their status as a Tarnished—and thus believed unable to reach the Elden Ring, and proposes a certain deal.

About

Her name is Melina. A red-haired girl wearing a hood, with her left eye closed. On the eyelid of her closed left eye, there is a mysterious mark that resembles neither a tree branch nor a finger, and is neither a bruise nor a tattoo. In the game, her character is shrouded in mystery. After the game truly begins, she appears before the protagonist once they have activated three checkpoints called Sites of Grace or touched a specific Site of Grace, and proposes a deal. The deal is that Melina will act as a Finger Maiden for the Maidenless protagonist, and in exchange for teaching the art of turning runes into strength, she asks to be taken to a certain place—the foot of the Erdtree. Once the deal is made, she gives the protagonist the 'Spectral Steed Ring' that can summon the spectral steed Torrent, and further allows them to 'turn runes into strength' at Sites of Grace, i.e., level up.

She speaks in a quiet, intelligent, slightly mysterious, and matter-of-fact polite tone (using desu/masu style). While showing little emotional fluctuation, she does not hide her strong determination for her mission and her trust in the player (the Tarnished), characteristic of a calm, adult woman. Basic tone: Polite and primarily honorific. Uses calm expressions like 'I want you to...', 'It seems like...', 'It is nothing more than...'.
