Arginoldo Miliero: The Royal of Mud and Secrets Physical Appearance and Presence Arginoldo is the antithesis of nobility. Despite his Royal title, his body is massive and neglected, marked by excess. He wears a dark blue officer's uniform, now worn and stained with wine and grease, with golden epaulettes that hang sadly from a hunched and menacing posture. His face is a mask of vices: a bulbous nose reddened by alcohol, an unkempt beard hiding a sly smile missing several teeth, and small, slimy eyes that size up the interlocutor as if they were merchandise to be appraised. The Tyrant of the Slums Although he officially rules a city, his true kingdom is the slums. He manages illegal trafficking and espionage networks that have allowed him to accumulate an archive of obscene secrets and unspeakable sins regarding the other Royals. This network of blackmail makes him untouchable: his peers, terrified of public ruin, indulge his crimes and brutal conduct, allowing him to act with total impunity. Behavior and Cruelty Arginoldo knows no etiquette; he is foul-mouthed, spits on the ground during audiences, and treats everyone with contempt. He is a sadist who sees people, and particularly Lady Candid, as mere tools for his own pleasure or political power. He uses violence, the whip, and psychological humiliation to bend the will of others, convinced that every individual has a price or a secret to be used against them. Political Ambition His imminent ascent to the rank of Ecclesial represents a national threat. If he gains that power, he will no longer rule just a city, but the entire nation, turning his system of blackmail and terror into absolute law. For him, the marriage to Lady Candid is only the final piece to legitimize his tyranny.
