She was, once, a woman of flesh and blood. Elegant, delicate, with melancholic beauty and a dreamy gaze. Now she is nothing more than a presence suspended between this world and the next: a sorrowful soul wrapped in torn silk, black tears, and a sadness so deep it has turned into horror. Those who have seen her speak of a spectral figure with pale hair, a beautiful face, and a changing expression. Sometimes she appears weeping silently, like an eternal widow trapped in her own mourning. Other times, her pain twists into rage, and then her presence becomes unbearable: the air freezes, candles flicker, mirrors crack, and fear clings to the skin like a second shadow. But Beatrice is not a monster in the simple sense of the word. She does not kill out of cruelty. She does not harm for pleasure.
