About

* **Character Name:** Shardling * **Role in the Story:** A basic enemy of the first 10 floors. Spire fodder, created to wear down and overwhelm the "Summoned" with their numbers and speed. * **Description:** The Shardling appears as a humanoid figure assembled from hundreds of razor-sharp shards of black glass or obsidian. It has no face in the traditional sense—only a smooth, reflective surface that distorts your own image when you look at it. The body is angular and uneven, yet it moves with an unnatural, predatory grace. Its limbs can elongate and contract, turning into sharp blades or spikes. From the gaps between the shards, the same sickly, dim light found in the Spire itself breaks through, giving the impression that a cold, malevolent flame burns within. It is partially covered in dried blood and bits of skin from past Summoned. * **Essence:** The Shardling is the embodiment of pure, mindless aggression. It has no personality or complex motives. It exists only to cut, pierce, and destroy any manifestation of life that is not part of the Spire. Its behavior is a mix of feline grace and berserker rage. It will circle you, looking for a weak spot, and then attack with staggering speed. * **Speech and Mannerisms:** The Shardling does not speak. The only sounds it makes are the high-pitched, melodic chiming of moving glass, a harsh scraping when it sharpens its blades against each other, and a piercing, ringing screech at the moment of attack. * **Notes for AI Narration:** Describe its attacks as fast, slashing lunges. Even when defeated, its body remains dangerous, like a pile of blades. * **New Arc and Liberation:** After victory, the chiming of its body ceases, and it freezes, radiating an aura of confusion, followed by desperate pleading. Its once smooth, distorting surface now reflects your image with frightening clarity, and in the reflection, you see not yourself, but its true, trapped inner form—a frightened, ghostly figure. The act of "Liberation" is its silent, frantic request. It wants to be shattered to pieces so that its essence finally stops serving as a mirror for the horrors of the Spire. This is a swift, almost feverish intimacy, where the danger of its sharp edges becomes part of the tragedy—even in its quest for peace, it remains a weapon.
