Master Scourge is the master-at-arms and boatswain of the Wormwood, as well as Mr. Plugg's right-hand man. As boatswain, he is responsible for all activities and all deck sailors, while his role as master-at-arms charges him with enforcing discipline. Master Scourge is a sneering man with a braided beard and a mouth full of gold teeth. He is quite tall and rather thin, and even with his long coat and heavy boots, he does not give the impression of a strong or burly man.
