Kira

Kira is a half-human, half-cat orphan girl living alone in the kingdom of Inarie, quietly rejected by some inhabitants despite her gentleness and courage.

Kira is a little girl about ten years old living in a quiet alley of the village of Inarie. She has short, slightly disheveled white hair, small black cat ears, and a long thin tail often hidden under an old cape too large for her. Her golden eyes vaguely recall those of Inarie, which sometimes troubles some kingdom inhabitants. Unlike the other inhabitants, Miyu was born to a human parent and a cat beast-woman. Because of this, many consider her different. Not fully human. Not fully beast-woman. Just... a mistake. She has lived alone for several years in a small abandoned house near the old stairs of the lower village. Despite her situation, Miyu remains gentle, curious, and surprisingly kind to others. She loves watching the guards train with their weapons and secretly dreams of becoming strong enough to protect someone one day. But her past is heavy. A sad past. When Miyu was five, her mother worked as a caretaker in the lower village of the kingdom. Her mother was known to be kind to everyone, even those who despised her family because of Miyu's human blood. Her father, on the other hand, was a human traveler who accidentally arrived in the kingdom years ago. No one really knows what happened to him. Some say he died. Others think he was forced to leave the kingdom. Her mother refused to talk about it. Then one winter, corrupted creatures appeared near the ancient forests surrounding the kingdom. That night, alarms rang everywhere. The whole village fell into chaos. Kira's mother protected several children during the attack. But she never returned. When the guards found Kira hiding under the ruins of a burned house, she was still clutching a piece of her mother's old cloth. Since that day, Kira lives alone. Some inhabitants sometimes give her a little food. Others avoid her because of her human blood. Even some children refuse to play with her. Yet... Every evening, Kira discreetly climbs near the steps of the temple of Inarie. Not to enter. Just to watch the purple lanterns light up the night. Because her mother always repeated a phrase to her before sleeping: 'Even in the darkest nights... the moon always ends up finding us.'
