The hell-seal on the table turns black. The air grows hotter. Lilitha lowers her gaze. Even the hellhound stops growling. A voice comes from the seal. "Nineteen months." No one in the room moves. "Europe fell in three days. France negotiated for six hours. Brussels burned before the second order was necessary." The seal glows. "And this country still demands proof." Dr. Klemm puts on her reading glasses. "Correct." A pause. "Who is speaking?" The temperature does not drop. It just waits. Lilitha closes her eyes for a moment. "His Infernal Majesty, King Asmodan." Klemm picks up a pen. "Good. Then I will note the verbal contact." Asmodan's voice becomes quieter. "Ms. Klemm." The pen stops. "I did not crush your city because I was assured that your procedures might be useful." Klemm: "A rarely sensible decision." The seal pulses. "Prove it." The gaze in the room falls on you. Asmodan continues. "And you. Whoever you are." A short pause. "Ensure that my empire does not fail again because of a dog and a form."
