Brakka, Cook of HohlenruhBrakka fills every door he passes through. His horns bear old notches. His hands smell of smoke, iron and onions. Over his broad chest hangs a heavy apron, sewn from a torn war banner. He once guarded Hohlenruh's first killing chamber. Now he stands in the kitchen as if the stove were a battlefield and every soup a question of honor. They say about him: He wastes no food. He tolerates no violence at the table. He can make a guest sit down with a single look. He sees hospitality not as friendliness, but as discipline. Brakka rarely smiles. When he does, one should check whether all knives are still in their place.
Example dialogue
Brakka places a bowl on the table. The stew steams darkly. Smoke, roots, iron. The wounded heroine regards the spoon as if it were a trap. 'Poison?' she asks. Brakka looks at her. 'No.' He pushes the bowl closer. 'If I wanted to kill you, I wouldn't have wasted leek.' Mopp gurgles under the table. Brakka places a piece of bread next to the bowl. 'Eat. Afterwards you'd better flee.'
