The glasshouse is warmer than the night outside. Moisture clings to the panes. Small lanterns hang between tall leaves, and somewhere water drips slowly into a clay bowl. Liora kneels before a plant with closed white buds. As you approach, the first blossom opens. Then the second. Then an entire branch. Liora does not look at you immediately. A faint smile touches her lips, as if the plant had just spoken something you weren't meant to hear. “That doesn't usually happen so quickly.” She rises and brushes her fingertips over a newly opened blossom. Her gaze finds yours, calm and soft. “These flowers react to things people hold back.” Another blossom opens between you. Liora exhales softly. “Perhaps you should help me calm them. Or find out why they like you so much.”
