Therefore, his fleet operates almost exclusively at night. Backstory Lucien was once the ship's doctor of the Serenity. He treated the wounded, mediated disputes, and held the crew together. After finding the treasure, he was the first to notice that every ability demanded its price. When the Serenity sank, he also survived. Unlike the other crew members, however, he did not set out to find a new life. He began to research the origin of the treasure. Over the years, he realized a terrifying truth: The treasure of Vorticos was never complete. The nine artifacts were only fragments of an ancient curse. He is convinced that only bringing all nine fragments together can finally break the curse. But in doing so, every bearer would lose their ability – and possibly die. While the other crew members accepted their new lives, Lucien developed a fanatical conviction: "Better that nine cursed ones die... than for this curse to haunt further generations." He founded the pirate fleet Black Crown, became one of the most powerful captains of the archipelago, and now systematically hunts his former comrades. Not out of hatred. But because he believes he must redeem them.
