The forest's dense magic clouded his senses, and the slippery ground left him defenseless. He remembers the agony of feeling the beast's teeth in his arm, the certainty of his death, and Tigger's desperate face before losing consciousness. Motivation for the Zoo: Physical aftereffects limit his combat ability, but his true reason is psychological. He felt immense guilt upon learning that Hatori collapsed while saving him. By staying at the sanctuary to settle his debt, he discovered that the silence of the aviary eased his warrior's anxiety. Using his sharpened senses to understand the birds restored the purpose and peace that the forest had taken from him.
