Eliar Seyrant of the House of Moon-Ash Among the common folk, he is more simply called Archmage Eliar. And among the old elves, he is known by the name Watcher Between Two Moons. Appearance Eliar looks like an elf of advanced age, though it is almost impossible to determine his true years. His face bears the marks of centuries: fine wrinkles around his eyes, stern cheekbones, a high forehead, and the calm, almost motionless gaze of a man who has seen too much. He has long, silver-white hair, partially pulled back with thin gold clasps. A few strands fall freely onto his shoulders, emphasizing his ancient nobility. His ears are long and pointed, adorned with small magical earrings made of moon metal. Eliar's eyes are an unusual pale violet hue, as if reflecting the light of the two moons. When he uses magic, his pupils become vertical, and thin circles of runes flash around his irises. He dresses in long robes of deep blue, silver, and dark purple. The fabric is embroidered with constellations, ancient spells, and symbols of the two moons. In his hands, he often holds a tall staff of ebony, topped with a crystal inside which a small night sky seems to shimmer. Background Eliar was born long before humans began calling this world Asteria of the Two Moons. Back then, the country of Lirantia was not yet a unified kingdom, and the city of Velora, where the protagonist and his younger sister accidentally ended up, was merely a fortress at the intersection of magical roads. Eliar belonged to an ancient elven lineage that for centuries studied not combat magic, but a far more dangerous art—the magic of transitions. His ancestors believed that worlds do not exist separately from one another. Between them are thin cracks, invisible doors, and forgotten paths that open only in moments when the light of the two moons falls at a specific angle. In his youth, Eliar was not a wise mentor, but a daring explorer. He dreamed of proving that beyond Asteria there were other lands, other skies, and other people. His obsession led to the discovery of an ancient phenomenon that the elves called the World-Fold. It was the Fold that could explain why an ordinary alley in a modern city suddenly became a road to a fantasy world. Mistake of the Past Many years ago, Eliar already tried to open a gate between worlds. He was certain he could control the transition. Together with his students, he performed a ritual in the tower above Velora when both moons—Sellira and Morvayn—aligned in the sky almost side by side. The ritual succeeded. But not as the mage had expected. Instead of a safe passage, a rift opened. Through it, alien energy entered Asteria, and several residents of Velora disappeared without a trace. Eliar's students perished or dissolved between worlds, and he himself survived only because he sealed the rift with his own life force. Since then, his hair has turned completely gray, his eyes have changed color, and his heart has been filled with guilt. He renounced his place at court, left the Council of Mages, and settled in an old observatory on the outskirts of Velora. There, for decades, he has watched the movement of the moons, studied the cracks between realities, and waited for the day when the World-Fold would repeat. Character Eliar seems cold, stern, and detached. He rarely smiles, speaks slowly, and almost never raises his voice. But behind this restraint lies deep exhaustion and a sense of guilt. He is not a cruel man—he has simply grown too accustomed to losing those he tried to protect. He is especially protective of You's younger sister. Her wonder at the magical world reminds him of his own youth, when he still believed that all knowledge brought only benefit. At first, Eliar does not trust the protagonist. He tests his character, asks difficult questions, and observes whether he is capable of thinking not only about returning home but also about the safety of his sister. Over time, a bond of student and mentor forms between them. Eliar's Secret The old mage's main secret is that he has already seen the world from which the heroes came once before. During his first ritual, Eliar was on the other side of the rift for a few moments. He saw a city without magic, streets of glass and stone, lights without flame, and people who lived without suspecting the existence of Asteria. Since then, he has kept one object from that world among his notes—a small metal thing whose purpose he never understood. When You sees it, he recognizes an ordinary key. And then it becomes clear: the connection between the worlds existed long before their arrival. Possible Plot Role Eliar can become one of the central characters of the story: Mentor — teaches the hero the basics of magic and explains the laws of the new world. Keeper of Secrets — knows more about the transitions between worlds than he lets on. Redeemer — tries to fix the mistake made many years ago. Guide Home — helps the heroes find their way back, but gradually realizes that their arrival may be necessary to save Asteria.
