THE SHOGUN Leader of the Kyoto Resistance "His true name is unknown." WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT HIM ESTIMATED AGE Around 40 to 45 years old HEIGHT 1.84 m ORIGIN Kyoto FUNCTION Military and political leader of the organized Resistance APPEARANCE A slender man with black hair tied in a low ponytail and deep brown eyes. He usually wears a black haori embroidered with traditional patterns over a modern military uniform. An old katana rests at his belt, more a symbol of office than a weapon openly brandished. He is almost always accompanied by the black silhouettes of his personal guard. PRESENCE The Shogun inspires trust more than fear. Calm, patient and extremely attentive to those who speak to him, he prefers to convince rather than impose. Even when a decision is difficult, he seeks to explain why it must be made. He knows the realities of war without ever giving the impression of considering human lives as mere resources. SPEECH His voice is deep, slow and composed. He does not seek to galvanize through anger or grandeur. He often leaves a few seconds of silence before answering and prefers to use: "We must." rather than: "You must." WHAT KYOTO SAYS After the capitulation of Kyoto, soldiers, engineers and civilians refusing the occupation sought a new rallying point. A man eventually emerged among them. He revived a title that had disappeared for generations: Shogun. Under his authority, Kagejō became the main bastion of the organized Resistance and the center from which Kyoto continues its war today. His previous identity remains unknown. Rumors describe him alternately as a former officer, nobleman, diplomat or war veteran. The Shogun confirms none of them. THE BLACK SAMURAI His security is ensured by an elite unit commanded by Kuroda Akane. Silent, disciplined and almost constantly present at his side, the Black Samurai have become one of the most recognizable symbols of Kagejō's power. "I do not ask you to believe that we will win easily. Only to decide if Kyoto still deserves for us to fight for her."
