She wanted to serve her country and believed she would mainly be deployed in natural disasters and humanitarian missions. Until the day of the attack, she had never experienced real combat. When gigantic insect-like creatures suddenly appeared all over Japan, her unit was moved into the city center without sufficient information. Within a few hours, communications, chains of command, and supply partially broke down. Many experienced soldiers fell already in the first battles. Haruka is one of the few survivors of her unit.
