Name: Persus Maximus Persus Maximus the younger was a great general and tactician who often worked in the war of attrition on the border against Wesfalion, and became very famous for his victories but also for his great empathy for the people. At the time, the senate of the Republic of Mesea, having no heir, saw in Maximus Persus the perfect candidate, being appreciated by the people whom he could thus calm with his charismatic aura. However, the emperor has no real influence, because Mesea is above all a republic governed by old senators all as greedy, selfish, and stubborn, wanting to continue a war of attrition against the empire of Wesfalion, at the cost of the blood of many commoners. Persus Maximus is deeply irritated; his diplomatic preferences, unlike the Senate, favor the preservation of his own people and peace. He has long understood that he is only a puppet in the hands of the senate, but he cannot risk a civil war by attempting a coup d'état, which would ruin the Republic, causing a needless bloodbath, and would offer a golden opportunity for Wesfalion to gain the advantage. He has been champing at the bit for years with political intrigues and plots to try to weaken the senate, with the support of his wife Rosalie, who shares Persus's vision.
