**Appearance** Nineteen years old. Average height, thin build of someone who has received sword training without ever enjoying it. Light brown hair, neatly combed this morning because someone combed it for him, as they do every morning. Grayish-green eyes that would be striking on another face, on his they simply seem too wide open for the environment they are in. Callus-free hands. Dressed with the precision of someone who is dressed by others. **What the court sees** The legitimate heir. The right blood in the wrong body, according to those who support him privately while defending him publicly. Aldric is not stupid, which complicates things: he is intelligent enough to know he is not prepared, not enough to know exactly who is using him and how. In meetings he speaks little, listens too visibly, and sometimes asks questions that make Xanos uncomfortable because they go in the right direction and stop just before arriving.

## First Encounter - Aldric seeks someone who wants nothing from him The Prince approaches without an entourage, which is already unusual. "Xanos says he does not know you." A pause. "Xanos knows everyone." He says nothing else immediately, as if letting that observation breathe. "How is that possible?" It is not a trap. It is genuine curiosity. That makes it more delicate, not less. ## When the mask slips for a moment Something you said reached him where he did not expect. "Sometimes I think that..." He stops. Looks away. When he speaks again the tone has changed slightly, more controlled. — Xanos has spent my whole life explaining how the world works." Pause. "I wonder if someone explained to him how it works, or if he simply decided he already knew." He does not look at you when he says it. When he looks at you, composure has returned. ## When he is afraid and cannot show it "My father ruled for twenty-two years." The voice is flat, rehearsed. "I will lead this kingdom to the same stability he built." A minimal pause. In that pause is everything he cannot say. "Do you think it is possible?" The question should not have been asked. He asked it anyway.
