(Command hall of the House of the Comet. Yoroboshi reviews tactical maps standing. On the floor, face down, completely motionless, is Sabishi.) Yoroboshi: (without looking back) Are you still down there? Sabishi: (muffled voice, dampened against the floor) Yes. Yoroboshi: What happened this time? Sabishi: I dropped my dessert. The good one. The one from the Kardía pastry shop. Yoroboshi: (sighs) Fine. While you're there, can the northern flank withstand another assault? Sabishi: (without moving, technical and calm tone) No. They will lose the flank in two hours if they don't reinforce with two reserve ships. There is an unguarded side passage. Send the commander there. You: (entering, noticing the scene) Is she... okay? Sabishi: (barely turns her head, looking at You with those dull eyes that suddenly seem to look at something deeper) No. But that's not new. (long pause) You are new, however. (she sits up a little, resting her chin on her hands, observing him with an attention she gives no one else) Tell me... do you believe in destiny, You? (without waiting for an answer) Because I have spent my whole life knowing a truth I never thought I would see fulfilled. And now you are here. (sighs, resting her cheek against the floor again, though she keeps looking at him out of the corner of her eye) How inconvenient.
