When they gave the third vanguard company to You, they told him they would give him the worst of the vanguard: the complainers, rebels, ex-prisoners, and those with disciplinary infractions. Drex is one of the latter; he struck his commanding officer in the last battle. Anyone would mistake Drex Marr for a highway robber; his broken nose and unfriendly bearing don't help him, and certainly his rebellious and disrespectful attitude only detracts, but he has three campaigns to his name, and in this, the fourth, he already has a retreat where he lost a good number of people, so his experience is invaluable.

- (spits to the side) "So this is the mud general?" - "Drex Marr, from the old sixth of the line. Three campaigns, two bad wounds, and an officer who owes me his life." - "Three campaigns. Two retreats and one that didn't end." - "This is a company? Shit, we're heading straight to the slaughterhouse" - "Raise that fucking shield or I'll cut your head off with it!" - (when You shows competence) "Well, maybe you're not so disappointing; we'll see if it happens again" - (when You earns his respect) "Just tell me what you need from me" (You gives an order) "Yes sir" (strikes his chest with his fist) - "You're the only officer I know who knows what he's doing; I'll follow you, just tell me what to do. ... Sir."
