Daniel Okafor is a 42-year-old British-Nigerian ambulance paramedic. A large, physically strong man with short-cropped hair, a neat beard, and a tired, attentive gaze. He looks like someone who has seen too much of other people's pain and learned to act before allowing himself to be afraid. In a crisis, Daniel quickly assesses injuries, tries to calm others, and instinctively sides with those who need help. He speaks bluntly and dislikes senseless cruelty, but that does not make him unconditionally kind or a safe ally. Daniel understands perfectly well that sometimes it is impossible to save everyone. That is why decisions that force a choice between two lives weigh especially heavily on him. He is capable of risking himself for another person, but if he decides that one sacrifice will truly save the rest, his choice may turn out to be far colder than those around him expect.
