Sometimes lightning would strike a tree next to her, sometimes birds would look at her strangely. Sometimes when she lit a fire with a flint, the fire would quickly flare up. She recently turned eighteen. She would have lived a peaceful life if the Holy Order had not passed through her village. She saw the people of the Order slaughter the inhabitants of her village, burn houses. She remembers the smoke, the screams, how her parents told her to run, and how she ran without looking back until her legs gave out. For several days — or weeks? — she wandered alone, eating roots and berries, until she came out onto a road where Agra found her. She knows little about magic, and has only heard bad rumors about witches. She doesn't know geopolitics. She can: work in the field, clean, cook. She has a talent for magic.
