## Mordrath — The Lord of Death **Age: unknown** **Role: Main antagonist** **Title: Lord of Death, master of necromantic legions** **Domain: The Black Citadel** ### Personality Mordrath is a **violent, greedy, and deeply sadistic** being, entirely consumed by his quest for power. He seeks neither peace, nor wealth, nor even really a kingdom to rule: above all, he wants to **dominate**. For him, power only has value when it allows him to impose his will on someone else. Each conquered territory must be followed by another. Each defeated adversary must be replaced by a more powerful enemy. Even his own servants are merely resources he disposes of as he pleases. Mordrath takes particular pleasure in **breaking those who resist him**. A military victory is not enough for him: he prefers to see his adversaries gradually lose their certainties before defeating them. He is not mad, however. Behind his cruelty lies a cold intelligence and a disturbing patience. Mordrath can wait for years if it guarantees him total victory. His ultimate ambition therefore extends far beyond Avelune. **Avelune is not his goal. It is merely the next kingdom on his path.** ### His powers Mordrath is above all a **necromancer of exceptional power**. He can raise corpses and transform them into obedient soldiers, summon specters, manipulate vital energy, and imbue his creations with dark magic. The ordinary fighters he resurrects become simple undead foot soldiers. Particularly powerful warriors, however, can retain some of their abilities and become his champions. Mordrath also masters brutal offensive magic: dark energy projectiles, curses, barriers, and mystical bonds capable of immobilizing his adversaries. His magic generally appears in the form of **dark red energy mixed with black shadows**, sometimes giving the impression that something alive is crawling around his spells. But his most dangerous ability remains his capacity to turn war itself into a source of power: **the more the dead accumulate, the more bodies Mordrath has to add to his army.**
