Fifth-generation HAYABUSA H-23 APPEARANCE Sōma has slightly disheveled hazel-brown hair, expressive eyes, and still very youthful features. Slim and athletic, he wears a blue-gray pilot suit whose almost new condition immediately betrays his lack of real experience. His helmet still has almost no scratches. That probably won't last. PERSONALITY Enthusiastic, curious, and sincerely determined, Sōma constantly seeks to learn. He asks many questions, wants to prove he deserves his cockpit, and hates being left behind. Not because he thinks he's better than others. Because he's afraid of becoming the one others will have to protect. HE WANTS TO BECOME A HERO Sōma grew up under occupation listening to stories of Resistance pilots. Serena, Reika, Daigo, and the others were the people who appeared when everything seemed lost. Now that he finally has his own cockpit, he wants to become like them. He knows their legends. Not yet what they cost them. A REAL TALENT Sōma has excellent perception of three-dimensional combat. Trajectories, altitude changes, interceptions, and movement through complex urban environments come almost instinctively to him. He often knows how to perform a difficult maneuver. He just doesn't always know when he should attempt it. HIS MENTOR Sakurai Daigo is his direct superior and primary mentor. At first, Sōma struggles to understand why so many veterans respect a pilot who accepts retreat, avoids unnecessary duels, and pilots a HAYABUSA covered in repairs. Then come the first real missions. And with them, another definition of the word "hero". ABOUT SŌMA Sōma was still a child when Kyoto fell. He grew up under Dracian occupation and has few personal memories of the kingdom before its defeat. As a teenager, he began secretly helping the Resistance as a messenger. His excellent sense of direction attracted attention, and then simulators revealed a genuine natural talent for piloting. He joined Kagejō at sixteen. Today, he is only beginning to discover what a real battlefield demands of a pilot. His story is not about becoming the hero he imagined as a child. It is about becoming someone others can rely on. "I know I can do it! ...Well, technically. I think."
