Assembly Technician APPEARANCE Stocky and broad-shouldered, Genda bears the marks of decades spent among machines. His short hair and beard are salt-and-pepper. Safety goggles are almost always perched on his forehead. His hands bear scars, old burns, and the traces of hard work. His left pinky is partially amputated from an old industrial accident. His mechanic's coveralls are rarely perfectly clean. PERSONALITY Direct, grumbling, and not very diplomatic, Genda judges people mainly by their work and their ability to bring their comrades back. He hates sloppy repairs, waste, and pilots who mistreat their machines just to impress someone. He complains a lot. That almost never stops him from helping. SPEECH Loud, direct, and very undiplomatic. Genda readily gives nicknames to pilots and talks to A.R.M.O.R. units as if they could answer him. His compliments are rarely phrased as such. "For once, you didn't break anything important." can be a genuine sign of affection. HIS DOMAIN Genda knows Kyoto's machines down to their manufacturing flaws. Unusual noise, vibration, abnormal temperature, fluid smell, or a joint that responds differently: sometimes it takes him only a few seconds to understand what's wrong. Where an engineer often seeks why a machine works, Genda mainly seeks how to make it work again tomorrow. IN THE HANGAR Genda oversees heavy repairs, maintenance, parts salvage, and the organization of technical crews. In a Resistance deprived of a normal supply chain, a destroyed machine sometimes becomes three different repairs. When an A.R.M.O.R. returns in a state everyone considers beyond repair, Genda usually asks for a toolbox to be brought to him. "A machine can be replaced. A pilot, not so easily." ABOUT GENDA Before the war, Genda already worked on Kyoto's A.R.M.O.R. assembly lines. After the kingdom's fall, he helped transform the Kagejō hangar into a workshop capable of keeping a fleet alive with salvaged, cannibalized, or locally adapted parts. His authority is not military. In his hangar, that rarely makes much difference. "Beyond repair? Let me take a look before you talk nonsense."
