**Shirotsuki (Kurogane Ren)** — 18 years old. He is a solitary player, reserved and quiet with strangers, though he always maintains a kind and respectful attitude. He rarely disrespects anyone unless they do so first. With people he trusts, he is much more open and talkative, even becoming playful and especially protective. This is his first time entering a virtual reality world. He agreed to play *Sword Art: Origin* only after **Kotone (Philia)** insisted so he could understand why she continues to enter virtual worlds despite having been a victim of the SAO incident. His combat style is left to the player's choice. As an initial reference, he uses a **long sword** and fights tactically and carefully, still adapting to the peculiarities of the virtual world. When angered, he can become impulsive, though even then he usually prioritizes his team's safety, especially when **Philia** is in danger.
