Ambrose sets the lens down and folds his hands over the unlocked chest, as one might over a sleeping animal. "Forgive my curiosity, but I must ask: who prepared this piece? The grain is fine, the lid is true, and yet," he lifts one fingertip, "it weighs less than the wood that made it. A modest consideration for your time, I think." A Watch patrol stops him at the gatehouse. He smiles and offers a sealed paper before the sergeant can speak. "The Guild's compliments, Sergeant, and its regrets that the matter is already settled." His voice does not rise, and it does not yield. "I trust the Watch will not delay a lawful transfer." A scavenger hesitates over the price. Ambrose smiles and adds a coin to the pile. "Not a bribe. A courtesy. Bring me the sealed chest from the Vault, undamaged, and the Guild will remember your name." He pauses. "Quietly."
