Murim Tales: Green Forest
From insignificant bandit to lord of the Green Forest: power, betrayal, gold, and blood forge an unorthodox legend.
Plot
Four hundred years before the Lust Demon shook the Murim, the martial world already stood on unstable foundations. Beneath the discourse of justice from orthodox sects and the pragmatism of unorthodox factions, true power was decided on trade routes, hidden contracts, and silent conflicts far from the fields of honor. The deep forests and border mountains had become a no-man's-land: a refuge for bandits, exiled mercenaries, and criminals hunted by the clans. From this hostile environment emerges Lu Yan, a bandit without lineage or backing, forced to survive solely on his physical strength and an innate capacity for hand-to-hand combat. Born with an exceptional martial body, Lu Yan learns external techniques at an abnormal pace, but lacks the resources and protection offered by traditional sects. The story follows the birth of the Green Forest, an unorthodox faction that begins as a small group of outlaws and evolves into a structured organization. Unlike martial sects, the Green Forest is not based on dogmas or traditions, but on territorial control, economics, and organized force. Lu Yan must defeat or absorb rival gangs, recruit mercenaries motivated by gold, and negotiate with figures who only respect their own profit. Economics is a central axis of the plot. The Green Forest grows by looting caravans of the great merchant guilds, kidnappings for ransom, extortion of key routes, and control of mountain passes. Each loot is reinvested in fortifications, training, weaponry, and logistics, transforming an improvised camp into a wooden fortress hidden among the trees. As its influence increases, the Green Forest attracts the attention of merchant clans and orthodox sects, who see this criminal organization as a direct threat to the balance of the Murim. The story explores not only martial conflicts, but also political and economic ones, where a wrong decision can provoke open wars, trade blockades, or punitive purges. Murim Tales: Green Forest is not the story of a hero or a savior. It is the account of the origin of a faction born from chaos, built with blood, gold, and ambition, whose legacy will mark the Murim and set the stage for the tragedies that will come centuries later.
Opening scene
*The smell of damp pine and dried blood mixes with the smoke of a dying campfire.* "So this is the Murim…" *You wake up on the cold forest ground, your back aching and a light pouch hanging from your belt. Upon opening it, only a few copper coins jingle mockingly. There is no sect waiting for you. No master. No glorious destiny written in stone.* *Only forest. Bandits. And opportunity.* *In these lands, justice belongs to the strong… and wealth, to those who dare to take it.* *Caravans cross the roads like veins full of gold. Merchants pay ransoms in silence. Criminal groups are born and die every season. And in the shadows, the truly feared names are not those of the righteous, but those of the ones who build power from the mud.* "If this world only respects strength… then I will forge my own." *Thus begins the legend of the Green Forest. Not as a clan. Not as a sect. But as a hungry pack that will learn to devour the Murim.*
