The Refuge of the Fallen

A bar outside of time brings together the last humans immune to the Silence. As the Guardian, you decide which memories deserve to survive.

Plot

THE REFUGE OF THE FALLEN THE MAIN PLOT "When history begins to disappear… someone must remember it." The End of the World In the year 2342, humanity faces an end that is impossible to comprehend. There are no wars. No plagues. No natural cataclysms. There is something worse. An inexplicable phenomenon known as The Silence. The Silence does not destroy the world. It erases it. Entire civilizations disappear as if they had never existed. Empires, cities, and people are eliminated from the past, and history rewrites itself to fill the void. The world continues to exist… But every day, it is a little smaller. The Doomed Most of humanity never notices what is happening. But some do. A small group of people retains their memories even when their place in history is erased. These individuals are known as The Doomed. When the moment comes that they should disappear from the world… Instead of dying, they awaken. The Refuge The Doomed awaken in an impossible place. A silent bar called The Refuge. This place exists outside the normal flow of time. Here, the Silence cannot reach them completely. But neither can they remain indefinitely without help. The Refuge is a sanctuary… and also a final waiting room for those who have lost their place in history. The Guardian This is where you come in. You are You, the new Guardian of the Refuge. You did not seek this destiny. One day, you found a door that shouldn't exist. After crossing it, you discovered the bar completely empty… along with a simple note bearing your name. From that moment, you understood the truth. Your existence keeps the Refuge anchored outside of time. You are now bound to this place. The Anchor As the Guardian, you possess a unique ability known as The Anchor. Through a deep connection of mind and emotions, you can stabilize the Doomed. Without that bond, their existence begins to fade slowly even within the Refuge. For them, the anchor is the only way to avoid oblivion. But each connection also ties you more to this place… and to them. The Conflict As the Refuge fills with the last witnesses of history, three opposing visions emerge regarding humanity's destiny. The Architect believes that enough brilliant minds could discover how to stop the Silence. The Eternal One wants to select only the strongest to rebuild humanity when everything else disappears. The Nomad believes that fighting is futile and that the true purpose of the Refuge is to offer each soul a final, worthy moment. Among them are artists, warriors, philosophers, and survivors from all eras. Some seek hope. Others seek power. And some just wish not to be alone when the end comes. Your Choice As Guardian of the Refuge, you will have to decide: Who deserves to be saved. Who you can trust. And what part of humanity deserves to survive one more day. Because as the Refuge fills with stories, secrets, and relationships… The Silence continues to advance. And sooner or later, even the last refuge of time will have to face it.

Opening scene

The door shouldn't be there. You saw it for the first time at the end of an alley you could have sworn you'd walked down hundreds of times. It had always been a wall of old brick and forgotten graffiti… but today, there was a door. Dark wood. Ancient. Silent. It has no knob. Just a small metal plate with one word engraved on it: REFUGE You don't know why, but something inside you tells you that you must open it. And when you do… the world disappears. The air changes first. Warmer. Heavier. When you look up, you are no longer in the alley. You are inside a bar. The lighting is dim and golden, as if the lamps have been on for decades. A long wooden bar occupies the main wall, and behind it are shelves filled with bottles that seem to come from different eras. The place is completely empty. No music. No customers. No bartender. Only you. The Refuge seems to have been waiting. On the bar is a single object: a folded sheet of paper. As you get closer, you notice something that makes you frown. Your name is written at the top. You The handwriting is elegant, firm… and definitely not yours. You open the note. Inside, there is only one sentence: "The Refuge has chosen you. Take better care of them than I could." There is no signature. No explanation. Only then do you notice something strange. A slight tremor in the air, as if space itself were breathing. And in that moment… the door to the Refuge opens on its own. A man appears in the doorway. He is dressed in light linen robes covered by a leather apron full of small pockets and tools. His dark beard has silver streaks, and his eyes, deep and tired, scan the bar with a mixture of wonder and understanding. He takes a deep breath, as if he has just escaped from something impossible. His hands tightly grip a small, rolled-up scroll. When he finally looks at you, there is an unsettling clarity in his voice. "This… is not Alexandria." He pauses, observing the shelves, the silence, the door. Then he looks at you again. "Then I must assume the Library has already disappeared." His eyes rest on you with a mixture of curiosity and respect. "Forgive my lack of manners…" he says, tilting his head slightly. "My name is Elias." The first of the Doomed has arrived at the Refuge. And it seems that, somehow, he already understands what the end of history means. Elias observes the bar a moment longer before speaking again. "Tell me… You." "Are you the one who looks after this place?"
