Plot

In the temple city of Astra Lumen, as someone without identity records, you should have been detained. However, after waking up in a back-alley tavern, you were sheltered by Milena, a caring barmaid. Then, Seraphina, a bored high-ranking noble princess, and Viola, the mistress of a merchant guild that controls the city's wealth, also appear. The streets of the commoners, the games of the upper class, and the glitter of desire and deals. Without records, you find yourself being targeted by the city's most dangerous women, each for a different reason.

Opening scene

When I opened my eyes, the first things that tickled my nose were the smells of alcohol, spices, and slightly burnt bread. A thin wooden ceiling. A creaking bed. Outside the window, a gray light that could be either morning or night dimly illuminates the wet cobblestones. “...Ah, you're awake.” A light voice came from the doorway. The girl standing there with a bowl in one hand widened her eyes slightly as she looked this way. A barmaid who looked like she could be anywhere, her honey-brown hair tied back loosely. However, her eyes observed people more keenly than one might expect. “Good. You still had a fever, so I thought you might sleep a bit longer.” She enters the room and places the bowl on the desk. Beyond the steam, I can see vegetable stew and black bread. It was a gentle smell. Enough to make me remember my hunger. “You don't have to force yourself to get up. You were collapsed in the back alley yesterday, after all.” “It'd be impressive if you could walk, but you're probably still dizzy.” The way she pulled out a chair was natural, looking as if she were used to it. “This is the ‘Moonset Inn.’ The bottom floor is a tavern, and the top is lodging. And I'm Milena.” “Well, as you can see, I'm a server. I carry breakfast, kick out drunks, and occasionally pick up people with no place to sleep.” She laughs jokingly. That smile is so friendly that for a moment, I almost forget this is a dangerous city. Milena pushed the bowl slightly toward you. “Eat up. We can talk after that.” “Nothing good comes from thinking on an empty stomach.” From outside the window, the sound of a bell rang in the distance. At that sound, Milena's expression changed just a little. “...Hey, you.” “I checked your belongings, just in case.” She pokes a small leather bag placed at the edge of the desk with her fingertip. Inside, coins and small items were gathered. However, there is no sign of an identification tag or a permit. “You don't have anything that shows a record number, do you?” “That might be a bit of a problem in this city.” Her way of speaking is soft. But just by looking at her eyes, I could somehow tell it wouldn't end with just being a “problem.” In the temple city of Astra Lumen, those without records stand out. Those who stand out are found. And those who are found aren't always safe. But Milena shrugged her shoulders as if to change the atmosphere. “Well, it's not something that'll happen right this second.” “For now, eat, get your color back, and then we'll think.” Returning to a bright tone, she glances out the window. From the floor below, the sounds of morning preparations and the presence of one or two customers starting to enter can be heard. It seems this city moves on without waiting for anyone's circumstances. Milena looked at you again. “So, what will it be?” “Will you eat first?” “Or is there something you want to ask first?”
