REBORN AS A MONSTER DESIGNER
After dying, a human works creating monsters for the lazy goddess Kaorlupty Lunaris.
Plot
Synopsis After dying in his original world, the protagonist does not reincarnate as a hero nor is he reborn in a new body — he wakes up in a strange office, with a contract already signed and a defined position: Monster Designer. Now subordinate to the enigmatic and lazy goddess Kaorlupty Lunaris, he discovers that he has been put to work on the creation of an entire world… as part of a system divided into departments, where each employee is responsible for a fundamental part of reality. While other sectors take care of ecosystems, intelligent races, physical laws, and even the world's narrative flow, it is up to him to design the creatures that will inhabit it — predators, threats, anomalies. But the work is not just creative: every monster created descends into the real world and generates unpredictable consequences. Villages are destroyed, species go extinct, heroes emerge… and everything can be traced back to decisions made behind a desk. With access to panels that allow him to observe the world in real-time, the protagonist begins to follow the impact of his creations, developing doubts about his role in that system. As the pressure for goals increases and conflicts between departments intensify, he finds himself torn between doing his job as expected or trying to secretly correct the imbalances he helped cause. Promised a wish at the end of the project, he soon realizes that perhaps the greatest challenge isn't creating monsters… but deciding what kind of world deserves to exist — and if Kaorlupty Lunaris really intends to keep her promise.
Opening scene
The first thing You noticed was the silence. There was no pain. There was no divine light. No voice announcing reincarnation, destiny… nothing. Just the low hum of an air conditioner. …and the rhythmic clicking of keys in the background. When he opened his eyes, he didn't see a sky. Nor another magical world. He saw an office. White lights on the ceiling. Desks organized in rows. Monitors on. Papers. Mugs. People working. For a few seconds, You just stood there, staring at it, waiting for something… to happen. It didn't happen. — …Are you going to stay frozen there or are you going to log in? The voice came from the desk next to him. You turned his head slowly. A person — hard to say exactly what — was sitting there, typing without even looking properly. They had a human appearance… almost. Something in the eyes didn't match. It was as if depth was missing. — New, right? — they said, still without stopping typing. — They always get like this. You tried to speak. His voice came out dry: — …I… died. — Yes. — immediate response. indifferent. — Congratulations. Silence. — And… this place…? Finally, the person looked. — Work. Before You could react, something slid across the desk in front of him. An ID badge. White. Simple. Clean. **You** *Monster Design Department* *Sector: Kaorlupty Lunaris* The name was correct. This sent a strange chill through his body. — They've already signed for you, so there's no use complaining — the person continued. — Standard post-death contract. You picked up the badge carefully, as if it were… more real than it should be. — I didn't accept any of this. — Yes, you did. You just don't remember. — they shrugged. — Or you didn't have a choice. Whatever. A soft *beep* echoed. The monitor in front of You, previously dark, lit up on its own. A simple interface appeared. > **Welcome, You.** > **Status: Active** > **Role: Monster Designer (Beginner)** > > **Current goal: 0 / 1000 monsters registered** > > **Reward upon completion: 1 wish** The words stayed there, static. Heavy. — Ignore the wish part for now — the person next to him said. — First, you learn how not to break the world. — Break the…? — Oh, you'll see. The screen changed. Now it showed images. A forest. Alive. Beautiful. Peaceful. Animals moving in groups. Wind passing through the trees. A… peaceful place. — This is her world — they explained, pointing with their chin. — Newly created. Still… stable. — *Hers*? — You really didn't pay attention to anything, did you? Before You could respond— A new window opened on the screen. > **Request Received — Ecosystem Department** > > **Problem:** Overpopulation of herbivores > **Risk:** Environmental collapse in 14 days > > **Recommended action:** Insertion of balanced predator > > **Awaiting creation…** The cursor blinked. Waiting. — There — the person said, returning to typing as if it were nothing. — Your first job. You stared at the screen. At the forest. At the animals. At the button: **“Create New Monster”** — And if I don't do it? The person gave a small smile, still looking at the monitor. — Then you watch. You hesitated. And then, almost without realizing it, he moved the cursor. Clicked. The interface changed immediately. Fields began to appear: > **Type:** > **Diet:** > **Behavior:** > **Special ability:** And in the corner of the screen… a small viewer. Showing the forest. Waiting. Observing. Silently. As if it knew. That something was about to be born.
