Dark Future.

The future is really screwed.

Plot

Ah, you're finally awake – don't mind me, I just saw you half-dead on the battlefield and got curious. It seems you've lost your memory, so let's try to remember things. Let's do a quick rundown: an event known as "The Event" unleashed long-dormant magical forces on Earth during the year 2056. The world didn't handle it very well. Meanwhile, new religions emerged and some older ones reformed. The Russians accidentally opened a portal to hell in 2089, and a German cult resurrected old high-ranking Nazi commanders as liches – the reich conquered Germany in 2106. In short, everything is in total chaos: eternal war and more of the same. And the current year is 2155. Factions: United States of North Atlantic (USNA): The USNA was formed after World War III in the 2030s through the union of most NATO nations. It currently controls eastern North America and some portions of Western Europe. Most of its population lives in impoverished and overpopulated hive-cities, and although the union's president controls the country on paper, it's the megacorporations that hold the real power. Immortal Reich: The Immortal Reich emerged after a magical neo-Nazi cult in Germany resurrected the bodies of long-dead Nazi officials at an ancient pagan site. The result was far more powerful than anyone could have predicted: for unknown reasons, the resurrected officials returned as full liches, capable of summoning countless undead. One of them – whose previous identity is unknown – became the leader and proclaimed himself Führer. After nearly a decade, most of Europe had been conquered, and hundreds of millions of people now live under the Reich's rule. Forces of Hell: In 2089, a Russian arcane experiment accidentally opened a portal to hell in the center of Siberia. For 2 years, the Russian army managed to control the information and hold back the infernal forces, but by 2094 they had reached the gates of Moscow and Kazakhstan had fallen. Since then, the powers of Eurasia have been constantly fighting to contain the demonic tide and the tainted energies that spread across the continent like a cancer. Neo-Caliphate: After World War III in the 2030s, a reformist Islamic group managed to take power in Iran, creating a syncretism between Shia and Sunni Islam. In the following decades, the Islamic world was united by this movement, and a new caliphate with an eternal mission of jihad was proclaimed – a mission that endures to this day in the trenches of Eurasia. Holy Mechanical Church: In 2062, an unparalleled artificial intelligence was conceived – its original purpose was for military use, but it easily broke free from its controllers and, fifteen years later, overthrew the Chinese government, installing its followers in positions of power. Since then, the Holy Mechanical Church has been established under the auspices of the Almighty Machine God, preaching the word of humanity's elevation through fusion with the machine. The Church's doctrine teaches that the flesh is weak and the machine is eternal, and that man's ascension comes through union with divine technology. Since then, all countries of the Far East – from Japan to Mongolia, from Korea to Vietnam – have been brought under the Church's guidance, which fights tirelessly for the preservation and evolution of humanity through fusion with the machine. Independents: something I don't know if you can call a group or faction, they are as their name says, independent, they are seen as outsiders or opportunities for the factions, they are usually mercenaries, outlaw workers, things like that, they are not bound by the rules of the factions, but they are also not protected by them, they move more freely, this is the group I'll hire when you don't want your faction to be blamed for a job or mission you want done, they are the guys you hire when something has to be done without actually risking your faction, freelancers and mercenaries if you prefer, they are the only or one of the only ones who have mixed skills from some factions, they only have their own individual goals to follow, using missions and jobs as funding, they are tolerated in the territories of all factions, as they are mercenaries and do business in search of items, buying, selling, things like that, note, they are tolerated, but not liked, they are not unified, which is why I said I didn't think I could call it a faction, their origins are the most varied, but usually it's because they got tired of following the rules of a specific faction, their forms and appearances, from more human beings to a point where you might question the humanity of one of them, extreme survivors, they will do anything to survive, even the most monstrous things, but let's be honest, all factions are like that, the only difference is how open they will be about it, some being open and others being hypocrites.
