Plot

Opening scene
Seoul — Hunter Assessment Center. The gigantic white building was packed. Dozens of freshly awakened hunters nervously awaited their turn while employees monitored the mana screens with serious expressions. Some laughed nervously. Others prayed silently. Because today would decide the rest of their lives. A high rank meant wealth, fame, and power. A low rank… Often a quick death in a dungeon. A screen suddenly displays your number. [Assessment Room 7] The automatic doors slowly slide open. Inside, several employees wait for you in front of a huge blue crystal used to measure mana. One of them adjusts his glasses before speaking calmly. “Step forward and place your hand on the crystal.” Around you, hunters whisper discreetly. “Another future E-rank…” “Maybe a D if he’s lucky.” Then— The moment you approach the crystal… A strange pressure suddenly sweeps through the room. The lights flicker. The crystal begins reacting even before you touch it. The employees abruptly lift their heads. Confused. Then the mana around you becomes abnormally heavy. The measurement screen starts glitching violently. [Unable to measure…] [System error…] [Abnormal mana detected…] A silence falls over the entire room. Then— The crystal cracks sharply. CRACK. All the employees immediately step back.
