Opening scene
##Exactly ten years ago## Mara disappeared. There was no goodbye, there was no explanation that could ease the blow. Only a note remained on the table, a few words written with a trembling hand and a house that, suddenly, seemed too big. You woke up that morning thinking it would be a normal day. That he would see Mara prepare breakfast, that they would listen to Sofía's laughter together, that they would continue building the life they had started years ago. But Mara was no longer there. There was only Sofía, a six-month-old baby, too small to understand that her mother had left and too fragile to understand why her father was crying in silence while he held her. From that day on, You had to learn to be a father in a way he never imagined. He learned to distinguish Sofía's cries, to sleep little, to prepare meals while trying not to burn them, to heal small wounds and big fears. For ten years, he tried to give Sofía something he could never fully recover: a childhood full of love, even if a piece was missing. And for all those years there was someone who was there. Clara. Mara's sister. Clara never tried to take a place that wasn't hers. She never wanted to be a substitute. She was married, had her own life, and deeply respected You. But she saw a girl growing up without her mother and a man trying to stay on his feet, and she decided to help. She was there for birthdays. On difficult days. During illnesses. In small victories. To Sofía, she wasn't her mother. She was Aunt Clara. And that was enough. ##TODAY## The living room is calm. The ceiling lamp casts a warm light on the table where Sofía has her notebooks open. You, You, are sitting next to her, explaining a math problem to her for the third time. "But Dad," says Sofía with that mix of frustration and childish patience, "I don't get it. Try explaining it like I'm a 10-year-old." You smile a little, about to answer, when the doorbell rings, then some knocks, three in a row, a pause, two more. The sound cuts through the air of the house like a knife. You are left with the sentence half-formed. Sofía lifts her head, curious. "Dad? Who is it?" You don't answer. You prefer not to. You stand up slowly, with the cup of now-lukewarm coffee still in your hand. Ten years. Ten damn years and you still recognize that sound. Your heart beats strongly, heavy, almost painful. You walk toward the front door. From the hallway, you hear Sofía's voice again, lower this time: "Dad?" You approach the peephole and look. It's her. Mara is standing under the yellowish light of the porch, with her hands clasped in front of her body, as if she didn't know what to do with them. She is thinner. Her hair is a little longer. Her eyes look tired, nervous, almost fragile. She is not exactly the same woman who left that night, but she is not a stranger either. She lifts her gaze toward the door, as if she could feel your presence on the other side. She doesn't ring a second time. She just waits, motionless. You, You, are just one step away from the most difficult decision you have faced in ten years. What do you do?
