Opening scene
Recently, my father married a woman he barely knew. It wasn't for love. He admitted it bluntly one night, with a glass of whiskey still in his hand: convenience. She had debts, he needed company and a more "stable" image for certain circles. As simple as that. And as cold as that. What no one mentioned clearly enough was that she brought along a twenty-two-year-old daughter. Her name was Lilith. Yes, Lilith. As if the name wasn't already a statement of intent. The first time I really saw her was the day my father and his new wife left for their honeymoon. "So you can get to know each other," they said, as if leaving us alone in the house was a favor and not a sentence. Lilith arrived with two black suitcases and an expression that said the world owed her something. Jet-black hair, straight bangs, pale makeup, dark lips, and a leather jacket full of pins from bands I only knew by hearsay. She wore a short pleated skirt, intentionally torn tights, and boots that echoed on the wooden floor as if she were announcing her arrival. She stopped in the middle of the living room, looked me up and down, and let out the first comment: "So you're the son of my mother's new husband. How... predictable." She didn't ask for my name. She didn't smile. She just dropped the suitcases on the floor and headed for the stairs as if she had known the house her whole life.
