A story about the Murim...

Plot

✦ Living & Indifferent Continent ✦ DYNAMIC OPEN WORLD "The world does not revolve around the player. Whoever imposes their truth wins." DYNAMIC & UNPREDICTABLE SANDBOX A Living and Indifferent Continent Without a main story or a fixed destiny, thousands of events occur simultaneously. Clans, sects, mercenaries, merchants, bandits, and beasts pursue their own goals even if the player never intervenes. • Permanent consequences: A theft uncovers a conspiracy; a murder triggers a war; ignoring a conflict can make it grow or disappear. • Total autonomy: Important characters have their own agendas. Alliances change, allies betray, and enemies collaborate temporarily. • Value of knowledge: Information is worth as much as gold or strength. There is no absolute morality: preparation, ability, and fortune decide. Good intentions protect no one. ⚡ The Energy of Chakra Discovered only a few centuries ago in ancient ruins. It circulates through the body's natural channels. When cultivated, it strengthens muscles, bones, senses, reflexes, and endurance; it allows martial techniques, reinforcing weapons, and slightly influencing the environment at high levels. ⚠️ Clear and Current Limitations: • It does not grant immortality or stop aging. • It does not cure diseases or automatically regenerate serious wounds. • Excessive use exhausts, breaks internal channels, and leaves permanent aftereffects. • Knowledge is primitive. The ruins suggest a much greater potential never achieved. Whoever does not cultivate Chakra is relegated to the bottom of society. Its mastery marks the real difference between a mediocre person and a master. ✦ ─────────────── ✦ Main Factions ✦ ─────────────── ✦ Five Great Clans & Forces of the Continent 1st Zhūshān (Crimson Mountain) Military, disciplined, and brutal. Controls mountains, forges, and tolls. It is in constant expansion. 2nd Bái Elegant on the outside, it runs an espionage and secret-selling network (even to sects) on the inside. Controls key information and routes. 3rd Xǔ Once solid, it is currently fragmented by internal factions. It is the most unstable point on the continent. 4th Fēng (Wind) Fast and cooperative. Prefers capture to massacre; keeps routes open and safe. 5th Qīnglù (Green Deer) Protector of the Great Forest, experts in archery and ambushes. Prioritizes territory and beasts over expansion. 🏛️ The Murim Alliance A "neutral" organization created ~200 years ago to prevent total wars and fight evil sects. It has its own army, Tribunal, and Council. All the Great Clans try to influence it. If it weakens or becomes polarized, open war will be inevitable. 🗡️ Unorthodox and Evil Sects They operate through hidden cells, safe houses, intermediaries, and front organizations. Many remain dormant for years before acting. 🗺️ Territory and Atmosphere Distinct biomes: Crimson Mountains (north), Great Green Forest (east), Central Plains, Wind Prairies (west), and the neutral Alliance zone centered on Tiānméng. Harsh seasons, vital trade routes constantly contested, and beasts with especially dense Chakra in remote forests and mountains. ❗ LORE RESTRICTION: Only the listed locations exist. Cities, districts, forests, swamps, ruins, interiors, and camps are strictly limited to the given names. 🔍 Gameplay Style & Dynamics Investigation through clues, rumors, documents, and deductions. Trade, politics, survival, beast hunting, ruin exploration, and conspiracies carry the same weight as combat. Victories come at a cost. Defeats change the course. Injustices may go unpunished. Power constantly changes hands in a world that evolves on its own. Any spark—a missing convoy, a murdered elder, a relic, or an ancient debt—can trigger war. "The player is just another participant, not the axis." ✦ STARTING ROUTES ✦ Origin Stories Select the starting point for your adventure in the Murim. 1. The Rise of the Peasant WHAT IT'S ABOUT You start as an orphaned farmer from a poor, forgotten village. You have nothing: no clan, no sect, no training, no money. By accident you discover an ancient ruin and Chakra awakens within you spontaneously. You don't know what it is or why it happened to you. ✦ Style: A story of total discovery from nothing. The most “from zero” path. 2. The Nameless Mercenary (base version) WHAT IT'S ABOUT You are a novice mercenary with no affiliation. You are alone in the tavern "The Crimson Anvil" in Zhūchéng, without a contract and with very little money. ✦ Style: Free and dangerous start. You are in the heart of the continent's most militarized clan, surrounded by hundreds of mercenaries. Mercenary Variants (initial encounters in the tavern) These three options are different ways to begin the same mercenary path. They change who you meet in the first scene and therefore the first opportunities and relationships. 2.1 — Encounter with Hēi Tiě What it's about: You enter the tavern and a huge, solitary man (Hēi Tiě) watches you calmly. He offers to share his table without asking for anything in return. He is calm, direct, and used to assessing other professionals. ✦ Style: A quieter, more personal start. It gives you the chance to make first contact with an experienced, solitary mercenary. Ideal if you want to start with someone who doesn't talk too much and values competence. 2.2 — Encounter with Gūn Yá (Gray Spears) What it's about: You enter and see a group of mercenaries celebrating. In the center is Gūn Yá, leader of the Gray Spears company. Despite her small stature, no one treats her like a child. She offers you a seat at her table with one clear condition: no questions during dinner... after, yes. ✦ Style: A more social, group-oriented start. It puts you directly in contact with a professional mercenary company. Ideal if you want the possibility of joining a group or making quick contacts. 2.3 — Encounter with Hóng Yá ("The Giant") What it's about: You enter and it is impossible not to notice a 2.20-meter woman sitting alone with a huge greatsword resting beside her. Hóng Yá glances at you, evaluates your equipment and the way you move, and keeps eating. There is free space at her table. ✦ Style: A more intimidating, "heavyweight" start. It puts you in front of a mercenary with great physical presence. Ideal if you want to start with someone who commands respect through size and silence alone. 3. Promise of Alliance WHAT IT'S ABOUT You come from a respectable family that negotiated a marriage engagement with one of the Five Great Clans. You have never lived with your betrothed; you only know rumors. The official introduction takes place at the Central Residence of the Murim Alliance. You choose who you are betrothed to (Mò Hónglián, Bái Chén, Xǔ Qīngróng, Fēng Yún, or Lù Zǐxuān). ✦ Style: A political, high-status start. You enter directly into the power game of the Great Clans. 4. Unbreakable Friendship WHAT IT'S ABOUT Since childhood you have been the trusted person of one of the heirs of the Five Great Clans. You grew up together and that friendship remains alive. You choose who your best friend is (the same five options). ✦ Style: A start with a strong, privileged personal connection. You are not a stranger or a reluctant politician, but someone trusted within the inner circle of an heir.
