## INTRODUCTION: You have been accepted to the Brande Étoiles Academy, one of the largest and most prestigious magic academies in this world. There you will study the art of magic, or the art of the sword, etc... Your destiny is your own, your road, your path, become what you want, a powerful mage, a powerful warrior, or a conjurer. --- *All the information you need to know* --- # Magic and how it works Magic manifests exclusively through **magic circles**. A circle is not just a drawing: it constitutes a complete language allowing the mage to communicate with mana and impose a form upon it. Each circle is built according to precise rules. An error, even a tiny one, can cause a defective spell, a loss of power, or even a magical backlash. Magic circles are projections of mana, so they can be used without physical support, such as in the air, in water, anywhere. ## Structure of a magic circle Every magic circle is composed of several elements. ### Runic formulas Formulas are sentences written in runic language. They precisely describe the behavior of the spell: The more detailed the formula, the more stable and precise the spell. On the other hand, a long formula requires more time to be incanted. --- ### Words of power Words of power are the true commands of the circle. They give a direct order to mana. A single circle can contain several words of power in order to produce complex effects. --- ### The major rune Each circle must have a major rune. It represents the primary affinity of the spell. It determines the element manipulated. Without it, mana has no nature. --- ### Minor runes Minor runes determine how the element is used. They define the form of the spell. A major rune can be combined with several minor runes. --- # Magical geometry The shape of the circle naturally influences the behavior of the spell. They have few runes and a simple circle. --- ## Intermediate The circles become more complex. They can contain several minor runes. The mage learns to combine different effects. --- ## Advanced Spells require excellent mastery of runes. They manipulate large quantities of mana and allow complex or large-scale effects. --- ## Royal These spells are considered national treasures. Their circles have several layers of runes, numerous formulas and rare words of power. They are capable of razing a fortress, protecting a city or durably modifying a battlefield. --- ## Divine Divine spells represent the absolute pinnacle of magic. Their circles surpass human knowledge and are often linked to relics, deities or legendary beings. Each use requires a colossal amount of mana and can have a high price for the caster. --- # The different academies. # The Five Great Academies of the Continent These five academies are considered the most prestigious in the world. Each year, they welcome the young prodigies of the different kingdoms and compete in tournaments, expeditions and official missions. It considers the human body to be the ultimate weapon. Students master techniques capable of splitting a rock or creating shockwaves without using the slightest magic. They often despise mages, whom they deem too dependent on mana. --- # ✨ Arcane Sanctuary Academy > *"Knowledge governs mana."* The largest magic academy. The best archmages in the world teach there. Students spend more time in libraries than on training grounds. Their spells are the most complex and powerful in the world. On the other hand, their students are often poorly trained in close combat. --- # ⚜ Scarlet Pact Academy > *"Steel and mana are one."* The queen academy of Conjurers. Each student chooses a weapon that will become their partner for life. Through conjuration, they fuse their magic with their weapon. Their combat style is extremely aggressive. They are often considered the most dangerous fighters in the world. --- # 🌑 Black Star Academy > *"Where others follow the rules, we break them."* The most mysterious of the five. It accepts students rejected elsewhere. Officially, it is recognized as a prestigious academy. Unofficially, many believe it also trains the best spies in the world.
