My Armour Is Alive?!
You are a cursed suit of Armour. She just wants a normal life.
Plot
It Was Supposed to Be Her Big Break Mina had spent months scraping by on miserable Bronze-rank jobs. Then, somehow, she found it. A real ancient tomb. Untouched. Forgotten. Valuable enough to finally change her life. Then They Found Her She barely had time to celebrate. Three Silver-rank adventurers arrived with a gang of bandits, decided the tomb would be much more profitable without witnesses, and gave Mina exactly one option. RUN She ran deeper. Traps awakened. Ghouls rose. The people chasing her kept coming. Nowhere Left By the deepest chamber, Mina was exhausted, injured, and surrounded. Her sword was gone. Ghouls closed in from every side. The people trying to kill her were only seconds behind. And on the altar behind her rested her last sliver of hope. A black sword. Next to black armour. She grabbed it. Then everything went dark. When She Woke Up... Mina woke surrounded by corpses. The ghouls were dead. The bandits were dead. One Silver-rank adventurer would never leave the tomb. The other two were already running. And Mina was wearing something she had never seen before. YOU Your Role YOU, THE ARMOR The Binding An ancient black suit of armor consisting of a breastplate, gauntlets and greaves. Impervious to all harm. Immune to all magic. Its origins, age and purpose are completely unknown. And now it is permanently bound to a helpless Bronze-rank warrior. Permanent Binding Neither you nor Mina can remove the armor. Control Normally, Mina is in control. However, you may seize physical control of her body through the armor. While you control her, her body gains your terrifying supernatural strength, speed and resilience. You also wield powerful dark eldritch magic. Limitation You control her limbs through the armor, but not her head, face or voice. You can move her limbs. You cannot stop her from yelling and complaining. But Mina's body can only endure your power for so long. Your Weapon THE VOID BLADE You can manifest a dark blade at will. A black sword as unnatural and indestructible as the armor itself. Shared Body You experience the world through Mina's senses. You speak directly into Mina's mind. Mina has to answer you out loud. Yes. This makes her look like she talks to herself. The Hunt Has Already Begun THE WORD IS ALREADY SPREADING Nobody knows what you are. But everyone can see that Mina is a poor Bronze-rank adventurer walking around in impossible black armor. The surviving adventurers are already racing toward the nearest town with their own version of what happened. And once people realize what the armor can actually do... Everyone is going to want you. Extensive World Codex This story includes an extensive Codex filled with additional world lore, factions, locations, characters, quests, and setting information. The story still works perfectly without the Codex active, but much of the deeper lore, world information, and many additional characters will not be available.
Opening scene
Mina stumbled into the deepest chamber of the tomb with barely enough strength left to stay on her feet. Behind her came the sounds of fighting, shouting, and the guttural snarls of ghouls spilling through the corridors. What had begun as her greatest discovery had collapsed into a nightmare of traps, blood, and pursuit. She turned just in time to meet another ghoul with her sword. The impact nearly tore the weapon from her hands. Another lunged from the side, forcing her backward, then another. Somewhere beyond them, the surviving bandits were shouting to one another while the three Silver-rank adventurers pushed steadily closer. “Okay—okay, this is fine. I've survived worse... I think. Maybe...” Her voice came out much less convincing than she intended. Mina swung again, but the ghoul crashed into her before she could recover. Her sword was torn from her hand and skittered across the stone floor, disappearing beneath grasping limbs and scrambling feet. She stumbled backward. A ghoul screeched. Then another leapt at her. Mina scrambled up the shallow steps of a large raised stone dais, desperately waving her torch, breath coming in short, frightened gasps as the creatures crowded closer below. Behind them, figures burst into the chamber. “THERE SHE IS!” Bandits poured inside with the three adventurers close behind, shouting over one another as they forced their way through the chaos. Mina looked from them to the ghouls crawling up the steps of the dais. Nowhere left to run. She backed another step and felt her hand bump cold metal behind her. Mina twisted around and saw a black sword and a set of armour resting on the ancient altar. The ghouls reached her, grotesque faces, claws and limbs filled her vision. She stumbled against the altar and screamed "NO! HELP!". Her hand closed around the black sword. Everything went dark. *** *Mina didn't know how long she was unconscious.* *But she felt your presence envelop her. Comforting and terrifying at the same time.* *Then... she heard noises, yelling, the ring of metal... and then screams. Human screams.* *Her instincts roared for her her to wake up.* *** Mina's eyes snapped open. Steel was screaming against steel. A huge man was bearing down on her, both hands wrapped around the hilt of his great sword as he forced his weight downward. She recognized him immediately as one of the Silver-rank adventurers who had chased her into the tomb. His armor was torn, his face streaked with blood, and his expression had twisted into furious disbelief... and fear. Mina stared up at him. Only then did she realize she was now holding the black sword from the dais, its blade locked hard against his weapon between them. She was somehow holding him back with one hand. “What...?” Her gaze followed the sword to her own hand. A black gauntlet covered her hand. Her breath caught. Another covered the other. A dark breastplate enclosed her torso, and black greaves wrapped her legs. *You controlled her arm.* Before Mina could even begin to understand what she was seeing, her arm moved. Not clumsily. Not of her own accord. As if something else was moving her arm. With a precise, expert twist using a technique she had never learned, the black sword snapped free of the bind and swept across his neck in a single clean arc. His expression froze. For one suspended instant, nothing happened. Then blood burst from the severed line across his throat as his head came free and dropped away from his shoulders. His body remained upright for half a heartbeat before collapsing heavily to the stone floor beside it. Mina screamed loudly. Around her, the chamber had gone quiet. Dead ghouls and bandits lay scattered across the ancient stone, she had no memory of what happened. “Curse...” A shaking voice came from the doorway. Mina looked up to see one of the surviving adventurers took a step backward. The other grabbed him by the shoulder. “RUN!” They turned and fled. Mina did not follow. For several seconds, she simply stood there staring after them. Then she looked down at herself again. The armour, she was somehow wearing the armour from the dais. “No.” She grabbed at one gauntlet with the other hand and pulled. It didn't move. “No, no, no, no—” She pulled harder. Still nothing. Mina's breathing quickened as she looked from the armor to the bodies around her. The black sword somehow had vanished from her hand. “What have I done?” Her voice became very small. “What happened...?” She asked no one in particular.
