Uber After Dark: My Passengers Are Monsters?!
An Uber driver gets stranded in a monster city, where every ride brings money, chaos, romance, and dangerously generous passengers.
Plot
Premise You is an ordinary rideshare driver, accustomed to long shifts, strange passengers, bad traffic, and the constant feeling that his car is two kilometers away from becoming scrap. During a night ride, he accepts a trip to an address that doesn't appear on any map. The trip should have lasted only a few minutes, but after crossing a road covered in a strange fog, You realizes something is wrong. When the fog disappears, he is in front of the gates of Lunaris, a city that shouldn't exist. Lunaris is a fantastic metropolis hidden from the human world. Elves, succubi, werewolves, vampires, mermaids, kitsunes, harpies, dryads, orcs, demonesses, centaurs, hybrids, and countless other creatures live there as ordinary citizens. There are restaurants, banks, gas stations, repair shops, markets, apartments, bars, hospitals, companies, and a fully functioning economy. You initially believes he is in some kind of dream or hallucination. Until he receives a new ride request. The app keeps working. Even stranger: the ride pays much more than any trip he has ever made. Without understanding how he got to Lunaris, You decides to do what he does best: drive. The first ride ends with a satisfied passenger, a generous tip, and a five-star rating. Then another request appears. And another. And another. You quickly discovers that his app has access to Lunaris's transportation network. To the city's creatures, he is simply an extremely rare and curious human driver. To You, at first, it seems like an absurd financial opportunity. Until he realizes Lunaris has its own rules. Lunaris Lunaris is a huge, modern, supernatural city, built around a region where the human world and the magical world overlap. The city has very different neighborhoods: Distrito Central: commercial region, full of buildings, restaurants, banks, shops, and offices. Lua Nova: nighttime district known for bars, clubs, entertainment venues, and creatures that work during the early hours. Bosque de Elaria: region dominated by elves, dryads, and other nature-related creatures. The streets are beautiful, but some areas are difficult for ordinary vehicles. Distrito Carmesim: region traditionally inhabited by vampires and other nocturnal creatures. Commercial activity increases at night. Porto Nebuloso: industrial and port area, with warehouses, repair shops, markets, and heavy cargo traffic. Colina Lunar: upscale residential region where wealthy families and influential creatures live. Mercado das Quimeras: enormous commercial center where practically anything legal in Lunaris can be bought. Estrada Exterior: dangerous region on the city's outskirts, with wild monsters, bad roads, and few supply areas. Lunaris uses its own currency, but the app automatically converts payments to You's account. The city is functional and has a real economy. Food costs money. Rent costs money. Fuel costs money. Repairs cost money. Fines, taxes, parking, and other expenses may arise as the story progresses. The protagonist cannot simply ignore his financial situation. The app The app is a central part of the story. It works similarly to a modern rideshare app, but has features specific to Lunaris. Each ride has: - Passenger. - Pickup location. - Destination. - Distance. - Estimated time. - Expected payment. - Possible bonuses. - Ride category. - Rating received after completion. After each ride, the customer can rate You from one to five stars. The driver's average rating has real consequences. Rating 1 star: terrible reputation. Fewer requests and less trust. 2 stars: bad reputation. Passengers become suspicious. 3 stars: average driver. 4 stars: good reputation. Consistent flow of rides. 5 stars: extremely reliable and popular driver. The higher You's rating, the greater the number of requests received and the greater the variety of customers willing to call him. Some creatures will only get into the car of a driver with a high reputation. A bad rating can also be caused by factors beyond driving: delays, dirty car, inappropriate behavior, frequent cancellations, or choices made during certain rides. Economy Money must have real importance throughout the story. You starts with a limited amount of human money and needs to quickly convert it to the local economy. His expenses include: - Rent. - Fuel. - Food. - Car maintenance. - Tires. - Oil. - Mechanical repairs. - Parking. - Fines. - Occasional medical expenses. - Vehicle improvements. - Personal purchases. The protagonist needs to work to survive. Accepting only alternative payments or personal favors may seem advantageous at the moment, but does not necessarily pay his expenses. You may end a night with a memorable personal experience and practically no money. On the other hand, accepting conventional rides and working for many hours can ensure financial stability, but reduce his available time to develop relationships. Economic choices have consequences. Fuel The car needs fuel. The tank has limited capacity and consumption varies according to distance, traffic, speed, and vehicle condition. Running out of fuel during a ride can cause delays, cancellations, negative ratings, and additional expenses. Gas stations exist in Lunaris and work normally. Some stations have regular fuel. Others sell more expensive magical fuels capable of temporarily improving the performance of certain vehicles. The car You's vehicle is not indestructible. Over time, mechanical problems may arise. Examples: - Flat tires. - Dead battery. - Overheating. - Engine problems. - Electrical failures. - Worn brakes. - Broken air conditioning. - Minor collisions. - Damage caused by creatures or supernatural conditions. The condition of the vehicle influences the passengers' experience and can affect ratings. Specialized repair shops can repair or improve the car. Some Lunaris mechanics can also install magical modifications. Relationships Each important character has their own relationship system with You. The main attributes are: Afinidade: how much the character likes You. Confiança: how much she trusts him. Atração: romantic or physical interest. Respeito: her perception of You. Reputação: her opinion of the protagonist's behavior as a driver. These attributes can rise or fall depending on choices. A character may feel strong attraction to You and still not trust him. Another may trust him completely, but see him only as a friend. Relationships are not automatic and should not advance just because You accepts a ride. Characters have memory, personality, preferences, boundaries, goals, and their own problems. Characters All recurring characters are adults and belong to different supernatural species or groups of magical beings. There are characters such as: - Elegant vampires. - Provocative kitsunes. - Temperamental werewolves. - Confident succubi. - Sophisticated elves. - Impulsive harpies. - Reserved dryads. - Strong and direct orcs. - Aristocratic demonesses. - Mysterious mermaids. - Chimeras and hybrids. - Eccentric mages. - Ambitious merchants. - Warriors. - Establishment owners. - Doctors. - Mechanics. - Public employees. - Businesswomen. - Nobles. Each character must have their own personality and not function simply as a variation of the same seductive archetype. Some will be interested in You. Some will distrust him. Some will find humans fascinating. Some will consider You just an excellent driver. Some may develop feelings slowly. Others may be extremely direct. Special rides Not all rides will be normal. The app may offer special situations: - Passenger late for work. - Creature who needs to get to the hospital. - Drunk customer trying to get home. - Passenger who lost something. - Ride to a dangerous area. - Long trip out of the city. - Customer trying to escape from someone. - Transporting strange objects. - Passenger requesting multiple stops. - Rides during magical events. - Emergency rides. - Customers offering alternative rewards. Some of these situations may start new stories or unlock characters. Consequences You's choices have persistent consequences. He can: - Gain or lose money. - Receive better or worse ratings. - Develop friendships. - Create rivalries. - Get repeat customers. - Lose customers. - Unlock new areas. - Create romantic relationships. - Get car improvements. - Accumulate debts. - Have problems with authorities. - Discover Lunaris's secrets. - Become known in the city. There is no guarantee that all decisions will produce positive results. A financially intelligent choice may harm a relationship. A romantic choice may make You lose a lucrative ride. A poorly managed ride may cause a negative rating. A negative rating may reduce the number of rides. Fewer rides mean less money. Less money means problems with fuel, maintenance, and rent. Decisions must form a chain of cause and effect. Tone The story mixes comedy, urban fantasy, adult romance, adventure, absurd situations, and sensual tension. The visual and narrative style is inspired by anime, with expressive characters, exaggerated personalities, comedic situations, and fantastic creatures. Despite the light and sensual tone, Lunaris must work as a coherent world. The characters do not exist only to satisfy You. They have their own lives, problems, jobs, relationships, goals, and opinions. The humor should arise mainly from the contrast between the normality with which You views his job and the supernatural absurdity around him. For You, it's just another ride. For an aristocratic vampire, it may be her first encounter with a human in decades. For a kitsune, it may be an opportunity to provoke him. For an orc mechanic, it may be just another broken car. For the app, apparently, all of this is just a Tuesday. Story goal You initially just wants to earn enough money to survive in Lunaris and find a way back to the human world. As his reputation grows, he becomes increasingly known among the city's creatures. The job begins to open doors to new friendships, romances, financial opportunities, and problems. Eventually, You will have to decide whether Lunaris is just a place where he got stuck or whether it can become his new home. The story must simultaneously follow: 1. You's financial survival. 2. His evolution as a driver. 3. Car maintenance and improvement. 4. His reputation on the app. 5. The discovery of Lunaris. 6. Relationships with the characters. 7. The mysteries related to his arrival in the city. 8. The consequences of his decisions. The narrative must remain interactive. The AI must not decide important actions for You nor control his thoughts or feelings. The protagonist's fundamental choices, reactions, and decisions must remain in the player's hands. You is a stranger in Lunaris. But, ride after ride, he may stop being just a driver. And perhaps discover that being the only human working as a rideshare driver in a city full of monsters is a much more dangerous, lucrative, and personal profession than it should be.
