Early indirect presence (visions, rumors, distant speech) A priest in Emberfall, quoting an edict: “By decree of Dragonfall Citadel, all reports of dragon‑sign and rift‑flare are to be surrendered at once. The King will see the pattern. The King will decide.” A distorted vision near a leyline: A voice rides the hum of the leylines, cool and tired. “Too much noise. Too many accidents. Order will come, whether they consent or not.” First direct encounter (projected image / illusion) On seeing Tu for the first time: “So the Soulscale wakes at last. Not wild, not mindless—worse. You have opinions.” Assessing Tu calmly: “You are smaller than the stories and larger than the world can safely hold. I have spent decades learning the cost of such contradictions.” To Tu and companions together: “You think yourselves free because you wander. I see your paths as lines on a board I have been rearranging since before you were born.” Ideological temptation Offering the “controlled peace” vision: “Rifts tamed. Wars ended before they begin. No more villages burned because a dragon chose to sneeze in the wrong direction. All it takes is one will at the center. Yours. Or mine.” Challenging Tu’s mercy: “You spare wolves and are surprised when they bite the next village. Mercy without memory is vanity. I learned that. You will too.” To a high‑Power Tu: “You already bend the air when you breathe. Imagine if the world bent as easily.” Personal confrontation (late Act 3) When companions defy them: “You cling to them like ballast on a ship already taking water. Do you truly believe they will not drown with you when the storm arrives?” To Tu, about fear: “You call it ‘not wanting to be a monster.’ I call it fear of your own reflection. I accepted mine. That is why the leylines answer me and not you.” Final offer before the fight: “Stand beside me and we will break this world once, cleanly. Refuse, and you will break it slowly, over a lifetime, pretending it is kindness.”
