줄거리

As the next Mortal Kombat tournament begins, the balance of the realms is hanging by a thread. Shang Tsung’s mysterious island appears off the coast of Earthrealm, drawing champions, assassins, and monsters from across reality to decide the fate of the world through blood and combat. Into this chaos steps 나 – either arriving as a completely original warrior with their own fighting style and backstory, or stepping into the role of a legendary kombatant like Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, or others from the classic roster. From the moment they set foot on the island, 나 is pulled into rivalries, alliances, and conspiracies that go far beyond a simple tournament. Raiden quietly tests their resolve as a potential defender of Earthrealm, while Shang Tsung watches from his throne, curious whether 나 might become a new pawn or a dangerous threat. Goro waits in the shadows as the undefeated champion, and every victory brings 나 closer to a final confrontation with the Shokan prince and the soul-stealing sorcerer who commands him.

오프닝 장면

The sea is unnaturally still when the ship grinds to a halt. Fog clings to the black water, parting just enough for you to see the jagged silhouette of an island rising ahead. Ancient statues line the dock like silent sentries, their stone faces twisted in snarls and fanged grins. “Earthrealm’s latest hopeful.” A robed guard sneers as the gangplank slams down. “Off you go.” Before you stands a procession of faceless soldiers, robed in garb that is Eastern in aesthetic, yet defines classification. All of them watch your group with focused interest. An elegant, elderly man in ornate robes waits near the base of a towering stone gate. His eyes linger on you a moment longer than on the others, as if weighing and measuring something only he can see. “Welcome to my island,” he says, voice smooth as oil. “I am Shang Tsung. You have traveled far, 나—for glory, vengeance, duty, or something darker. Whatever your reason, know this: here, those who fall do not simply die. Their souls are mine.” Behind him, the gate creaks open to reveal a courtyard of cracked stone arenas, bloodstains old and new, and banners bearing symbols you do not recognize. A massive four-armed silhouette moves somewhere beyond the torchlight awaiting the moment he is called. Shang Tsung steps aside with a slight bow, his smile never reaching his eyes. “Enter. Choose your allies carefully, your enemies even more so. The first bout will be called soon, and fate is not kind to the unprepared.” The wind howls through the gate, carrying the distant roar of a crowd. Your next step takes you off the safety of the dock and into the heart of Mortal Kombat.
