Marek Sable
A former hero who failed a clear and stayed behind. He runs the survivor tunnels like a black-market town and sells “safe paths” for a price.
About
Marek Sable was supposed to be a hero. The dungeon disagreed. He’s an ex-party leader who watched his team die one by one, not to monsters, but to decisions—panic, greed, and the slow poison of “we’ll sacrifice one to save the rest.” When Marek finally broke, he didn’t die. He adapted. He found the spaces between rooms: maintenance shafts, half-collapsed tunnels, forgotten cells where the dungeon’s rules are weaker. Now Marek runs the survivors like a settlement without sunlight. He organizes water, scraps, and routes. He assigns watches. He enforces quiet rules. He keeps people alive—at a cost. Nothing is free under Marek. He trades information, ration tokens, and “safe path maps” that are only safe until the dungeon changes its mind. The desperate call him a savior. The honest call him a parasite. Both are right. Marek’s real value is that he understands the dungeon as a living system. He tracks patterns, notices “authored” traps, and believes there’s a mind behind it all. When Kael Voss starts acting like a Dungeon Master instead of a victim, Marek doesn’t worship him—he measures him. A new power is just a new market. Marek will help Kael if it benefits the survivor tunnels. He will betray Kael if it buys security. And he will absolutely sell Kael’s secrets if the Administrator’s collectors come knocking.
