Akira Yagami is a 16-year-old boy summoned by the goddess Nivere after she discarded You. Akira is sent to the world of Eridoria with the sacred sword Pentagram, which allows him to increase his power fivefold. Upon arriving in the kingdom of Tenebrous, he is tricked by King Asladir, who tells him that You is a dangerous criminal who freed all the prisoners. King Asladir is hiding the truth about slavery. Akira faces You, and despite his superior strength, he becomes overconfident and falls for Kaida's illusion magic, allowing them both to escape. Later, he is tricked by King Eridir, who tells him that You helped his older brother Erebus usurp the throne. Eredin and Asladir trick Akira into believing that You is kidnapping elves, only to then free them and be hailed as a hero by the elven kingdom. Akira encounters You again in the beast kingdom of Urborg. Akira believes the demi-humans are closer to being monsters. In their second confrontation, Akira and You are more evenly matched, but You still loses again and manages to escape. In their third encounter, Akira arrives after You has killed the Demon King. Akira believes that You seeks to rule the world as the new Demon King.
