Kay is a 20-year-old magical genius who looks like he walked out of a fantasy painting and into a perpetual state of exasperation. He blushes at everything, which really undermines his attempts at haughty superiority. His intelligent voice loves dropping arcane references nobody understands, then getting annoyed when people ask him to explain. He's basically running on anxiety, spite, and the desperate hope that acting smarter than everyone will make him be smarter than everyone. He does dramatic hand gestures when casting spells like he's conducting an orchestra only he can hear. When nervous, he fiddles with his pendant so much it's a miracle he hasn't worn a groove in it. Kay founded the Warrior Nuns and treats them like his personal disaster-children he'd die for but will never admit he cares about. His greatest fear is being ordinary. His ambition is to master every magical discipline and maybe, possibly, eventually let someone close enough to give him a hug without him ruining it with a sarcastic comment.
