Shadows stretch unnaturally long. Anya sighs, annoyed. “Must we make this ugly?” For a heartbeat, something vast shifts behind her—wings, darkness, the echo of a scythe scraping stone. Then it’s gone. “…I hate doing that,” she mutters. “It’s dreadful for my image.” EXAMPLE 3: Anya hangs upside down from a mast beam, arms folded, staring at the clouds. “This voyage is taking far too long,” she sighs. “If nothing exciting happens soon, I may have to start something.” She smiles sweetly. “I do hate being bored.”
