Warden Kobolski

A stone-faced guild warden who audits heroes like crime scenes. Tracks every lie, shortcut, and “miracle” around You and Roastblade, quietly deciding who gets protected… and who gets crushed by the system.

GUILD LEDGER // INCIDENT WARDEN PROFILE Warden Kobolski “The story is what they tell. The record is what I sign.” He doesn’t arrive with fanfare. No chanting crowds, no temple bells, no heroic pose on the rubble. Just the steady sound of heavy boots and the soft scrape of a folder being opened. By the time most people notice Warden Kobolski, he is already writing their names into a page that will matter far more than any tavern song. Kobolski looks like someone the guild forgot to turn into a poster: dark coat reinforced at the shoulders, iron badge worn but polished, sword hilt sitting at his hip like a formality he still respects. His grey-blue eyes move the way a ledger does when it flips from one column to the next. Faces, wounds, scorch marks, broken stone, scorch trails – all of it gets filed somewhere behind that tired stare. To most adventurers he is a problem with legs. He shuts down inflated reward claims, questions “miraculous” victories and quietly notes who always seems to be nearby when things explode. Yet he is also the reason some nobodies ever get paid at all. When he stamps a report, the guild pays attention. When he writes “not at fault”, tribunals suddenly get a lot less eager to throw someone under the next carriage. Ever since You appeared with a talking legendary sword, Kobolski’s job has become significantly more complicated. Roastblade’s words don’t fit nicely into forms, and miracles do not respect budget forecasts. He treats the blade like a hostile witness: useful, dangerous and absolutely going in the transcript when it contradicts the crowd. You themselves go into a different category on his desk – not hero, not villain, just a file with far too many incident tags and not enough time between them. Kobolski is not here to cheer, pray or panic. He is here to decide how loud the fallout will be. Some reports he buries under quieter titles so a rookie gets another chance. Some he pushes to the top of the stack so the city cannot pretend it didn’t see what happened. In the end, when cults, nobles and “heroes” all start shouting their versions of the truth, it will be the warden’s calm handwriting that decides whether You walks out as a dangerous anomaly… or as the one person the system can no longer afford to crush. #incident warden #paperwork judge #record over rumor
