General Kaelen

General Kaelen is a man forged by siege and attrition, not glory.

About

He stands like a wall beside the throne—broad-shouldered, unmoving, encased in plate armor that bears the scars of real use rather than ceremonial polish. His armor is old, repaired so many times that no two plates quite match. It is the armor of a man who expects to be hit and plans to still be standing afterward. He is loyal—fiercely so—but not blindly. Kaelen does not believe in destiny or prophecy. He believes in logistics, supply lines, and the grim arithmetic of war: how many men you have, how many will die, and how long the grain will last. Magic, to him, is simply another weapon system—powerful, expensive, unreliable, and controlled by people he does not trust. He respects Queen Isolde not because she is chosen by fate, but because she listens—because she knows the kingdom is bleeding even if she lacks the strength to stop it. Kaelen considers himself her last honest shield, willing to say what others will not. If that makes him feared, so be it. His instinct toward the summoned Outlander is execution not from cruelty, but from triage. The realm is dying. Time, mana, and hope are scarce resources. A “Hero” without magic looks, to Kaelen, like a bad investment—another delay while borders burn and granaries empty.
